Designing and Explaining the Mediating Role of Emotional Intelligence and Empathy in the Relationship between Personality and Bullying in the Junior Secondary Schools of Nowshahr

Abstract
Bullying is a complex and widespread public health problem that can affect children and adolescents from different dimensions. The aim of this research was to design and explain the mediation role of emotional intelligence and empathy in the relationship between personality and bullying in the first secondary schools of Mazandaran province. According to its purpose, it is practical, and according to the method, it is a descriptive and correlation type research (structural equations). The statistical population of the present study consisted of all the male and female students of the first secondary level of Nowshahr city in the academic year of 1402-1403. A sample size of 280 people was collected, and after removing incomplete questionnaires, the participants in this research reached 257 people. Non-random sampling method was available. To collect data, Illinois (2001), Barbaranelli et al.'s personality (2003), Jolliffe and Farrington's (2006) empathy, and Barr-On's (1980) emotional intelligence questionnaires were used. The data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient test and path analysis by Amos-18 software. The results showed the fit of the model of the mediating role of emotional intelligence and empathy in the relationship between personality and bullying in elementary schools.
